Tip of the week : Peeled Ginger

Ginger your life! If you are not using this wonder root in your kitchen then go on and start using it. Anyhow this post is not about sharing benefits of ginger so I should rather not digress…!

I get lazy if I have to first peel a small portion of ginger and then grate it for preparing tea or for any other purpose. To make the process faster, I peel a big piece of ginger at one go and cut it into small pieces. Store in a box in refrigerator. It stays fresh and does’nt get rotten for 2-3 days. I tried grating it and storing but the shelf life gets reduced and it doesn’t taste that fresh after grating.  In families like mine where ginger consumption is quite high both in tea and in vegetables , doing a little bit of per-processing helps save time.

Whenever required, I simply take out a piece and grate it or crush it, whichever way I need it. It makes things faster and I don’t loose interest in doing the same peeling again and again.

Thank you hai ji aapka :) . I do peel it, I peel a big piece in one shot and the cut it into smaller pieces as shown in the picture and keep it in a an air tight box. Then whenever required, a peeled piece can be chopeed or grated without getting into the hassel of peeling ..saves a few seconds every time and helps avoid redundant activity of peeling :)
